On Friday, New York City Mayor-elect flew to Washington, DC to meet with President Donald Trump for the first time since his election. Trump, of course, endorsed Mamdani’s former opponent Governor Andrew Cuomo, called Mamdani a communist, and had threatened to deploy the National Guard in New York should Mamdani win the mayoral race, prompting many to wonder if Mamdani was walking into another Zelensky situation.

But, in a twist that be shocking only if you’re unaware of what foreign leaders and tech executives learned years ago, Trump is easily won over by fame and charm.

We have a new contender for clip of this presidency:

Many were quick to point out that he’s never publicly displayed a fraction of this adoration for his own children:

Not to mention…

Trump was so taken by Mamdani that he outright kneecapped some of his own supporters:

After the Oval Office meeting, Trump and Mamdani posed for photos in front of the portrait of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt that Mamdani had praised earlier in the day.

Many noted that Mamdani, while friendly, did not exhibit his famousn smile, while Trump in contrast grinned from ear to ear.

Of course, can you even blame Trump?

The day was a win for Mamdani, but also in all likelihood a win for New York City overall.

Mamdani, after all, really is – or at least was – Trump’s kind of guy:

The next day, something seemed a little different with Trump.

Because it’s the internet, we weren’t going to escape this day without a fight about what this says about Democrats:

Will it last? Probably not. But at least we had some fun.
