President Trump’s inaugural weekend festivities kicked off Sunday with a rally at DC’s Capitol One Arena. Village People (fun fact, the band does not use “the” in its name) headlined the rally, naturally performing its 1978 disco hit “Y.M.C.A,” a staple of Trump’s campaign rallies and soundtrack to his now highly memeified dance.

This morning, now-former President Biden welcomed Donald and Melania to the White House, before heading to the Capitol for inauguration.

Indeed, the whole Trump gang is back together.

At the Capitol, the vibe shift was palpable as right-wing influencers and tech CEOs stood in attendance.

In the overflow room, several Democratic Senators showed up in their usual style:

But, as with President Jimmy Carter’s funeral earlier this month, the star of the show was GWB, who sat alongside fellow former Presidents Clinton and Obama (Michelle did not attend).

Well, here we go.

$TRUMP to the Moon

But before Donald Trump was even sworn in for a second time, we all got a taste of what these next four years will be like when on Friday night he launched the $TRUMP crypto coin, skyrocketing to $6B in value by mid-day Saturday. (Of course, when Melania launched her own coin, the value of $TRUMP plummeted.)

On the brighter side, we may live in what is essentially a banana republic, but at least all the crypto people are mad at Trump:

The TikTok Ban That Wasn’t

On Sunday morning, American TikTok users everywhere woke up to an in-app message announcing the temporary shut down of the app in the United States, with a promise to work with President Trump to bring it back. Across the internet, people bemoaned the Democrats giving President Trump an easy and early win, notwithstanding the fact that President Trump first suggested banning the app, and that the legislation forcing the sale passed with a bi-partisan majority and was upheld by the Supreme Court 9-0.

In mourning the loss of TikTok, its largely Gen Z user base took some Ls.

Of course, it was all for naught as by the evening, TikTok had been restored, at least for now.
