Today’s Olympics main character is another pole vaulter, Mondo Duplantis, from Louisiana but representing Sweden. But, truth be told, he’s more just the cutie gold medal winner of the day. Tomato tomahto.
Today was the last day of gymnastics. ☹️
Unfortunately, the balance beam was basically a disaster, with virtually all athletes (including Simone Biles and Suni Lee) stumbling or outright falling. But it did give us this nice moment:
The floor was a different story, with Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade winning gold, Simone Biles taking silver, and Jordan Chiles taking bronze.
Despite not taking gold on the floor, Simone Biles did get a last laugh, responding to the judges dinging her on the balance beam for not properly saluting them.
Goodbye, gymnastics. I will miss you.
